RightNow Agent saves every conversation to disk as a session, whether it ran in the TUI, headless, or over ACP.

## Resume

**/resume or Ctrl+S**

Pick a recent session for this workspace. Typing filters titles and also searches conversation content; content matches appear under "Extended search results".

**rightnow --resume**

Resume the most recent session for the current directory.

**rightnow --resume <id-or-title>**

Resume by ID, or by a case-insensitive title in the current directory. UUID-shaped values are always IDs.

**rightnow --continue**

Continue the most recent session for the current directory; cannot be combined with `--resume`.

**rightnow · list and resume**

Windows

```text
PS> rightnow sessions list
(no label)
SESSION ID                            CREATED     UPDATED     STATUS      SUMMARY
<session-id>  <created-date>  <updated-date>  local
rightnow --resume "Locked Down"
Resuming session <session-id> (matched by title)
```

Scripts should pass a session ID. When several sessions share a title, a single hand-renamed one wins; otherwise the command stops and lists the matching IDs.

## Fork, rewind, and compact

**/fork \[--worktree|--no-worktree\] \[directive\]**

Start a peer session from a copy of this conversation, optionally in a new git worktree and with a first prompt. Without a flag, RightNow asks.

**/rewind, /undo**

Pick an earlier prompt and drop the conversation after it.

**/compact \[note\]**

Summarize older history to free context; the note says what must survive. RightNow also compacts automatically near the context limit.

**rightnow --continue --fork-session**

Copy the latest session for this directory into a new session ID.

**Text**

```text
/compact keep the authentication decisions and pending test failures
```

> **Warning: Rewind does not restore files**
>
> Rewind truncates the conversation only. File changes made by removed turns stay on disk; review or revert them yourself.

## Command-line flags

**-s, --session-id <UUID>**

Start a new session with this unused UUID. With `--resume` or `--continue` it also needs `--fork-session`, and names the copy.

**--fork-session**

With `--resume` or `--continue`, copy the history into a new session ID instead of appending.

**-w, --worktree \[NAME\]**

Start the session in a new git worktree, optionally named. Headless mode (`-p`) does not create one.

**--worktree-ref, --ref <REF>**

Branch, tag, or commit for `--worktree`; defaults to the current HEAD of the source checkout.

**--restore-code**

With `--resume`, also restore the session's repository snapshot; otherwise only the conversation returns. A remote session's snapshot needs `--worktree`.

Use a new worktree when you need the code restored into a separate checkout:

**PowerShell**

```powershell
rightnow --resume --worktree --restore-code
```

## List, search, and export

`rightnow sessions` requires a subcommand: `list`, `search`, or `delete`.

**rightnow sessions list \[--limit N\]**

Recent sessions for this repository, including sibling worktrees, grouped by worktree label (20 by default). Rows show ID, created and updated dates, source status, and summary.

**rightnow sessions search <query>**

Search session titles and conversation content for the current directory. With the default configuration it also prints `warning: remote session search failed` on stderr; local results are unaffected.

**rightnow export <session-id> \[file\]**

Write the transcript as Markdown to stdout or a file; `--clipboard` copies it instead.

**/export \[file\]**

Save this conversation as Markdown, or copy it to the clipboard when no file is given.

**/transcript**

Open the transcript of this conversation in `$PAGER` (default `less`). Nothing opens when that program is not on `PATH`; on Windows, set `PAGER` first, for example to `more.com`.

**PowerShell**

```powershell
rightnow sessions list --limit 50
rightnow sessions search "rate limit"
```

> **Warning: Deleting a session is immediate**
>
> `rightnow sessions delete <session-id>` finds the ID in any workspace and permanently deletes its history without asking. An unknown ID reports that no session was found.

## Storage and cleanup

Each session is a directory, `<RIGHTNOW_HOME>/sessions/<encoded-cwd>/<session-id>/`, holding prompts, responses, tool results, task state, rewind points, usage counters, compaction checkpoints, and subagent records. `<RIGHTNOW_HOME>` is the effective product home; `RIGHTNOW_HOME` can override it.

**rightnow du \[--json\]**

Disk use under the product home: top-level directories by size, then worktrees with size, type, age, label, and path.

**rightnow worktree list**

List registered worktrees.

**rightnow worktree gc --max-age 7d**

Remove registered worktrees older than seven days. Without `--max-age`, nothing expires.

**rightnow worktree rm <path>**

Remove one worktree, including untracked ones that gc never visits.

Preview first: gc and rm both accept `--dry-run`.

**PowerShell**

```powershell
rightnow worktree gc --max-age 7d --dry-run
```

> **Warning: Review work before removal**
>
> Neither garbage collection nor worktree removal checks for uncommitted or unpushed work. Keep what you need before you run the removal.

**PowerShell**

```powershell
rightnow worktree gc --max-age 7d
```
