Known Issues

Release status

RightNow Agent is coming soon for Windows, macOS and Linux. Installation commands and workflows in these guides are reference material until the public release is available.

RightNow Agent is distributed as a native binary for Windows x64, Windows ARM64, macOS Apple Silicon, macOS Intel, Linux x64, Linux ARM64. Linux binaries are static and do not require glibc.

Windows behavior

  • File-path completion returns no suggestions because the current provider explicitly returns an empty result on Windows.
  • External auth-provider commands run through the shared shell_c helper, which uses cmd /C. The measured record reports corruption for commands containing a double quote; avoid that shape until the path is requalified.
  • Permission prompts are application decisions, not kernel filesystem or network isolation, and sandbox profiles are not enforced on Windows.

Product behavior

  • Native updates follow the selected stable or alpha channel; rightnow update --check --json previews the decision without installing. See the Install guide.
  • Provider authentication and availability are external dependencies. Provider-side limits may affect requests. Provider response time contributes to end-to-end latency. Headless backend unavailability maps to exit code 23.
  • A stale warm agent service can continue serving a same-version or unversioned development binary until it is stopped.

Source and package issues

Recorded on 2026-09-03, before the current native release; each item still holds in the 1.0.5 source and its Windows package.

  • LICENSE-RIGHTNOW.md conflicts with the root Apache-2.0 license.
  • The Windows package payload still includes local-model setup and model-creation scripts plus the proprietary license file.
  • verify/ship-gate.ps1 still contains an Ollama-backed local-model preflight. verify/verify-all.ps1 skips real model-dependent suites and uses an isolated loopback backend.
  • These and the recorded packaging and local-runtime gates do not describe the current six-platform installers.

CI boundary

In the agent repository's hosted CI at 1.0.5:

  • The Windows workspace library command excludes rightnow-pager and runs only the diagnostics::fix and doctor_cmd pager filters.
  • PTY integration tests are outside the hosted --lib commands.
  • Warnings remain visible but are not denied because RUSTFLAGS=-D warnings is commented out.
